The Tortoise and The Rabbit
Once upon a time, in a green forest, there lived a rabbit and a tortoise. The rabbit was very proud of how fast he could run. He would often say,
“Look at me! Nobody can run faster than I can.”
The tortoise, who was slow but wise, grew a little tired of hearing the rabbit boast every day. One morning, the tortoise smiled and said,
“Rabbit, I may be slow, but I can still beat you in a race.”
The rabbit burst out laughing.
“You? Beat me? That’s impossible! But fine, let’s race!”
All the animals of the forest gathered to watch. The race began, and the rabbit ran so quickly that soon the tortoise was far behind. Feeling proud, the rabbit thought,
“The tortoise will take forever to reach. I have plenty of time to rest.”
So the rabbit lay down under a tree and quickly fell asleep.
Meanwhile, the tortoise kept walking—slowly, steadily, one step after another. He did not stop, he did not rest.
After a long time, the rabbit suddenly woke up. He jumped to his feet and ran as fast as he could. But when he reached the finish line, he was shocked—
the tortoise was already there, smiling quietly.
The rabbit lowered his ears in shame.
The tortoise said gently,
“Slow and steady wins the race.”
And from that day, the rabbit never boasted again.
