The Hardworking Ants
In a beautiful garden lived a colony of ants. They were very small, but very hardworking. Every day, they would wake up early and go out to gather food. They would load small grains of rice and sugar on their backs and keep them safe in their homes.
Nearby lived a lazy grasshopper. He spent his entire day singing and dancing. He avoided hard work. He would make fun of the ants, saying, “Hey, ants! Why do you work so hard? There’s no point in working too hard. Come and have fun with me!”
One of the ants smiled and said, “If I work hard now, I won’t have any problems in the future.”
Days passed. Soon the rainy season arrived. It rained continuously for four days. Now the grasshopper had nothing left to eat. The grasshopper remembered the ants. Hungry and thirsty, he went to them to ask for help.
The ant gave him food and said, “Those who work hard and respect time never have to go hungry in life.”
The grasshopper realized his mistake and promised to work hard too.
