The Lion And The Little Rat

Once upon a time. There was a very dense forest which was completely filled with tall trees and colorful flowers. There lived a mighty lion in that dense forest. His name was Zimba. Zimba was the king of the jungle. He was very strong and brave which made other animals in the forest afraid of him. Zimba was very proud and confident in his own strength

One hot sunny afternoon, Zimba decided to rest under a shady tree after eating too much. There was a light breeze that day. Lying under the tree, Zimba fell into a deep sleep. At this very moment a small mouse came out of its hole in search of food. His name was Remi. He saw a small fruit near the lion’s paw. Seeing which he became very excited. He climbed on Zimba back carrying the fruit. But by mistake the fruit slipped out of Remi hand and landed on Zimba nose! Zimba woke up with a loud roar, causing little Remi to freeze in complete fear. Zimba grabbed it with his big paw.

“How dare you disturb my sleep? I should eat you right now!” Zimba growled.

Remi said in a low voice trembling with fear, “Oh, Your Majesty, I am very sorry. I had no intention of waking you. Please forgive me. If you let me go, I promise that one day I will help you too.”

Zimba laughed loudly. “You? A little mouse? How can you help me?” But he was in a good mood that day, so he raised his paw and let the mouse go.

“Run, little one,” he said smiling.

Days passed. One morning Zimba had gone far into the forest chasing a deer. But he did not realize that he was standing near a hunter’s trap. Suddenly-snap! Zimba got caught in a strong net. He struggled and roared, but the more he fought, the tighter the ropes became.

Hearing Zimba roar, all the other animals ran to hide. But Remi was watching all this. He remembered Zimba kindness and quickly reached the place. Seeing Zimba stuck, Remi said, “Don’t worry, friend. I’ll help you!” Remi started gnawing on the ropes with his sharp little teeth. He continued working until the net broke. Now Zimba is completely free.

Zimba was surprised. “Thank you, little mouse. You saved my life! I made a mistake in doubting you.”

“Even the smallest can help in their own way,” Remi replied with a smile.

From that day on, Zimba and Remi became best friends. Now Jimba learned to respect all living beings, whether big or small.

Lesson: No good deed ever goes waste. Even the smallest friend can make a big difference.
